“Experience, travel; these are as education in themselves” — Euripides, Greek Playwright
As participants in a global economy, as users of world-shrinking technologies, as searchers for solutions to planetary problems, we all stand to benefit from the perspective-broadening, humility-inducing experience of exploring another culture firsthand.
UM-Flint’s opportunities for international study span all disciplines.
In recent years, business students have travelled to China, India, and Russia. Theatre students annually travel to London. One of our honors scholars in biology studied nitrogen and mineral assimilation of reindeer in Iceland. Last year, history students spent a month in Poland. And for nearly 20 years, UM-Flint nursing students have served the rural population of the Dominican Republic.
