Credit Equivalencies for AP, CLEP, and/or IB*

Guidelines for recognition of Advanced Placement (AP), International Baccalaureate (IB)* and/or College Level Examination Program (CLEP):

Duplicate credit cannot be awarded for AP, IB*, or CLEP exams and a student may not repeat a course for credit at the University of Michigan–Flint if credit has previously been awarded through the AP, IB*, or CLEP credit equivalency programs. If a student enrolls in a course for which AP, IB*, or CLEP equivalency credit has been awarded, the equivalency credit will be permanently removed from the student’s record.

Individuals desiring recognition of CLEP examinations for credit at the University of Michigan-Flint must present official CLEP reports for all exams taken PRIOR to matriculation (enrollment) at the University of Michigan-Flint. No credit will be awarded for CLEP examinations taken after the start of a student's first semester/term of enrollment at University of Michigan-Flint.  For additional information regarding CLEP examinations, please contact Sarah Kowalski at (810) 762-3300 or smkowals@umflint.edu.

Credit earned through the College Board's Advanced Placement program, International Baccalaureate program, and/or College Level Examination Program will be awarded in chronological order along with other credit earned through course work completed at recognized post-secondary institutions, not to exceed a total of 62 semester hours total.
