Why study Computer Science at the University of Michigan–Flint?

  • Communicate. Create networks to allow computers to communicate and share information. Translate ideas into software applications. Communicate through the codes and circuitry of the computer.
  • Develop.  Learn coding, testing procedures, specifications, and design elements crucial to creating software programs. Learn to develop tools to streamline networking, create databases, and manage servers.
  • Apply. At the end of your undergraduate experience, you will develop a semester-long project to demonstrate the skills and knowledge you have gained. This not only showcases your skills for the faculty, but for prospective employers as well.
  • Options. The Computer Science program offers two tracks: software engineering and systems/networking. Choose the track that best fits your interests.
  • Specialize. As a Computer Science student, you will gain the skills needed to become an expert. Our students have a strong foundation in physics and math in addition to their computing courses in order to gain the analytical reasoning skills needed for success.
