Focus 2

FOCUS 2 is a self-paced career guidance tool designed to help you select the right major, clarify your career goals, and provide you with valuable occupation information.

Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI)

An assessment tool offered to UM-Flint students is called the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator or (MBTI). This is a personality preference profile. You take it online then schedule a follow up appointment with an Academic Advisor/Career Counselor to get your results. Learn more about taking the MBTI at a Majors & Careers: How to Decide workshop. Log in to Career Connection to RSVP for the upcoming workshop by clicking the Events tab and browse through the Workshops. Select the workshop you would like to attend and click the RSVP button. You are now registered to attend!

Strong Interest Inventory (SII)

The Strong Interest Inventory (SII) is an in-depth assessment that focuses only on your interests. FOCUS 2 does included assessments on both personality (like MBTI) and interests but the MBTI and SII just go into more detail on these areas than the assessments in FOCUS 2. To learn more about the SII plan to attend an upcoming Majors & Careers: How to Decide workshop. Log in to Career Connection to RSVP for the upcoming workshop by clicking the Events tab and browse through the Workshops. Select the workshop you would like to attend and click the RSVP button. You are now registered to attend!

All students have a primary and non-primary advisor based on their declared major. The primary advisor is an advisor in the academic department. The non-primary advisor is an advisor in Academic Advising. You should always go to your primary advisor for advising, however you are always entitled to see an advisor in the Student Success Center - Academic Advising. Log in to SIS, select Student Services tab, choose Student Records and View Your Academic Advisor.
