I cannot log into SIS.
We are able to reset your password only if you are a first time in college student, otherwise, you need to contact ITS Helpdesk at (810) 766-6804 or email@example.com.
How do I get my Mcard and parking permit?
ITS distributes parking permits and/or validation stickers to students registered for the current semester in conjunction with the Mcard distribution at the beginning of the semester (preferred method) in the University Pavilion next to Subway. If you are a new student be sure to bring a State Issued ID to get your Mcard, along with the Make, Model, and License Plate number of your car in order to recieve your Parking Permit. These can also be obtained from ITS throughout the semester.
How do I take my placement exams?
Computer Science 121, Math, Reading, and Writing placement exams are administered in the Student Success Center, 285 UPAV. You can simply walk in to take the exams, but be sure to plan for a four hour time limit. Foreign Language placement exams are administered in the Foreign Language department, 344 FH, (810) 762-3370.
What is my UMID?
Everyone has their own 8 digit UMID number. If you don't know your UMID, you can log in to SIS. Once logged in, you can find your UMID in the Personal Information menu, under "View Your UMID".

How can I order my transcripts?
If you attended UM-Flint between 2000 and the present term use the Student Information System (SIS) online process. Click on the Student Services Menu -> Student Records ->Request Printed/Official Transcripts
Or Transcript order forms are available in the Office of the Registrar.
Are you taking walk in appointments?
We accept walk-in appointments all day, every day from 8 a.m. – 6:30 p.m. Monday – Thursday and 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. Fridays; however, we do not make same day appointments.

Frequently Asked Questions--LAN Password
I am unable to set my LAN password. Why?
Your LAN password must be at least 8 characters in length and include a mix of numbers and letters. You must have a complexity score of at least 50%. Password filtering is enabled to not allow commonly used passwords. Do not use common names and words, or any three consecutive letters from your name or Uniqname, forwards or backwards.
Why am I getting the following error message: “Password mismatch”?
The password that you typed into the first box does not match the password you typed into the second box. Be sure to type the exact same password in both boxes.
Why am I getting the following error message: “Either the password is too short or password uniqueness restrictions have not been met”?
You have entered a password that is not at least 8 characters in length, does not contain a mix of numbers and letters, or does not have a complexity score of at least 50%. Is orientation mandatory?
Yes. Orientation at the University of Michigan-Flint is a required program designed to facilitate a smooth transition to UM-Flint and assist you in making the most of your college experience.
Where do I park for Orientation?
You can park in the Mill Street Parking Deck. You do not need a permit.
Are driving directions available?

What should I wear to Orientation?
Dress casually and wear appropriate foot wear for walking on campus.
When do I purchase my textbooks?
A few weeks before the semester the bookstore will post the list.
Why am I required to attend two orientation sessions?
Students admitted to the Challenge Program are required to attend two orientation sessions – one Challenge Program Orientation and one Freshman Orientation.
When and where do I go for my Challenge Program Orientation?
Challenge Program orientation typically takes place the day before your freshman orientation. The Challenge Program orientation begins at 4:30 pm in the Loving Cultural Lounge, second floor, University Center. Parents are encouraged to attend.
What do I need to bring to orientation?
You need to bring a photo ID, your UMID, SIS PIN, Uniqname and LAN password.
Do I have to be at orientation for the entire time?

How and where do I complete my placement exams?
If you are a new student you complete your placement exams online, in Blackboard. If you are a current student you complete placement exams in the Academic Advising and Career Center, 285 UPAV.
Why am I unable to login to Blackboard?
You must use your Uniqname and your Blackboard/Email/LAN password to access Blackboard.
I don’t know my Uniqname or my LAN password. Now what?
If you do not know your Uniqname and LAN password, you must login to SIS to find your Uniqname and create a new LAN password.
I’m trying to login to Blackboard. Why do I get the following error message: “An error occurred while the system was processing your login request”?
If you are using your firstname.lastname@example.org use ONLY your uniqname.
When do I need to complete my placement exams?
ASAP. They MUST be completed at least two weeks prior to orientation.
My orientation is tomorrow and I still have not completed my placement exams. Should I reschedule my orientation?
No. Complete your placement exams today and attend orientation tomorrow as scheduled.
I am trying to take my math placement exam but the timer is covering the submit button. Why?

I need to register for Orientation. What do I do?
Log in to the Student Information System at www.umflint.edu/sis. Login using your UMID (or Social Security Number) and your PIN (originally pre-set to your six digit birthday in mmddyy format). Once logged in click ‘New Students Start Here’.

Log in to SIS using your UMID (or Social Security Number) and your PIN (originally pre-set to your six digit birthday in mmddyy format).
