Black Arts Festival
The Dept. of Africana Studies presented a cultural celebration from the Black Arts Movement on Wednesday, April 27, 2011 for the entire student body at the Riley Alternative/Adult Education Center, Beecher Community School District. UM-Flint students in AFA/THE 312 presented poetry, music, and dramatic presentions from BAM, one of the only American literary movements to advance “social engagement” as the core of its aesthetic. Three members of the Dept. of Africana Studies faculty Dr. Guluma Gemeda, Dr. Ernest Emenyonu, and Prof. Nur supported this event.
