I originally decided upon UM-Flint because it was close to home and very cost efficient. I ended up staying because of the unique environment it provided. I fell in love with the intimacy provided by UM-Flint, and ended up getting really involved in campus life.
One of my very first experiences was part of what really hooked me into staying at UM-Flint. On my second day of classes, I had a well-dressed, grey-haired gentleman approach me and introduce himself. It ended up being Chancellor Juan Mestas. He actually stood and talked to me for 15 minutes, asking all kinds of different things about me, and offering any sort of information he thought might be helpful. It was truly a very telling experience of how the rest of my days at UM-Flint would be.
My experiences at UM-Flint taught me how much fun the university environment could be. I am currently a Project Coordinator in the Institute for Clinical Research Education at the University of Pittsburgh. My wife and I live about 10 minutes away from campus.
I am very happy with how things are going, and I have UM-Flint to thank for a lot of it. I do not think I would be where I am today if it was not for all the wonderful experiences I had on campus. Everything from my classes to the extra curricular activities I was involved in have really helped to shape me into the person I am today, and have helped to prepare me for the real world of today.
