Opportunity is the word which best describes my experience at the University of Michigan-Flint. During my undergraduate career I had the opportunity to enrich both my academic and personal life.
I decided to attend the University of Michigan-Flint for several reasons, ranging from small class sizes to it being located close to home. Additionally, I had aspirations of majoring in music performance, and transferring to Ann Arbor.
Needless to say, my planned course of action drastically changed. And I made one of the best decisions of my undergraduate career…to remain at the University of Michigan-Flint.
Academically, I excelled in the Honors Scholar Communication Program as well as in my amazing internship with the Central State Communication Association. I grew personally by getting involved. I took advantage of the opportunities in Student Life by sitting on Student Government, becoming active in more than half a dozen student organizations and being a Founding Father of the Omicron Rho Chapter of Kappa Sigma Fraternity.
With having such opportunities at hand, by the time I walked across the stage at Commencement, I was ready to “commence” my professional career. With my Bachelor’s in Communication in hand, I began looking jobs. Deciding to continue residing in Flushing, I was fortunate to become employed by my alma mater within the Office of Student Life, with higher education aspirations of a Masters degree from the institution.
As an alumni, I still continue being active by sitting on the Alumni Board of Governors of the Alumni Association.
Needless to say, my experience was amazing, full, and well rounded. I Learned, I Lived, and I Experienced the University of Michigan-Flint, and loved every minute of it.
