Distinguished Alumni for Community Service

Carolyn Stubbs

Carolyn is dedicated to improving the quality of life for individuals, providing her community with educational resources and bringing music events to the public.  Her dedication to organizations like Quota International, YMCA of Greater Flint and the Flint Institute of Music has greatly increased the quality of life for individuals in our community.   Carolyn's education and professional experiences in the field of social work are evident in the activities she chooses to support.  Her work with the Visually Impared Center and the Communication Access Center highlight her passion for removing barriers for individuals with communication challenges.  While working with these, and many other organizations, Carolyn has served in leadership roles and provided resources to make these programs successful.

In addition to her work with organizations that provide direct support to individuals Carolyn is also dedicated to ensuring that students and professional social workers receive the resources and education they need to be successful in today's society.  Carolyn is a member of the Michigan Licensure Board for Social Workers where she helps set the standard for the social work profession in our state.   She has also served on advisory committees for both the University of Michigan-Flint and Mott Community College Social Work Programs.  Carolyn's service as Past President of teh Flint Association of the University of Michigan Alumnae has provided numerous students with teh financial resources necessary to succeed in their pursuit of an education.

Carolyn's dedication to the people of her community and the organizations which serve that population make her deserving of this year's Community Service Award.
