Fredrica Kathryn (Englebert) Bartz (born January 22, 1927 in Flint, Michigan; died June 1, 1989 Flint, Michigan) joined the English faculty at University of Michigan-Flint as lecturer in 1967. She was promoted to professor in 1981 and served as chairman of the English Department from 1973 to 1977 and from 1984 until her death. She was an early student at the Flint College of University of Michigan, graduating in August, 1960, with a B.A. degree. She later earned an M.A. from University of Michigan-Ann Arbor and a Ph.D. from Michigan State University in 1972.
Her papers consist mainly of syllabi of English classes she taught. The file with the most material is the English 326 file. Also included are exam questions, study questions, and the like. Two files concern visits to University of Michigan-Flint by writers Alan Paton, in 1977, and Theodore Sturgeon, in 1978. One folder contains a syllabus and examination for an English class she took in 1958 (English 126).
