Assessment Summary for 2006-2007:

The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at the University of Michigan-Flint is in the second year of our re-designed assessment program. We are developing procedures that will compare our student performance at UM-Flint to expectations by comparison of their performance to pooled national student performance levels measured on the American Chemical Society’s area specific examinations in General Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry, and Biochemistry. Our intention is to identify potential weaknesses in our program and to make curricular changes to allow our students to compete effectively with chemistry and biochemistry graduates at the national level.

We are pleased with student performance overall and anticipate strengthening of our program to result from these assessment studies in subsequent years.
