Assessment Summary for 2006-2007:
All measures indicate that the English Department is successfully serving its students, though we are still refining our assessment process. A random sample of writing portfolios by graduating majors, which were evaluated by four English faculty members, averaged a “good” rating in all areas of assessment. Particular strengths of our graduating majors are in the areas of content and fluency. Members of the English graduating class from 2006-7 who responded to the Alumni Satisfaction Survey all marked “agreed,” with varying degrees of strength, that their training the English enabled them to apply the basic concepts in the discipline.
