Psychology
Assessment Summary for 2006-2007:
The Psychology Department has recently revamped its student learning outcomes for two of its most popular programs. These outcomes center around knowledge, skills, and values consistent with the practice and application of Psychology. Our current assessment of student performance using a Major Field Achievement Test in Psychology suggests that Psychology students compete well at the national level, and usually meet or exceed departmental goals. Additionally, evaluations of student performance by agencies in the community indicate that our students express sensitivity and respect and demonstrate perspective-taking and empathy in interactions with others in professional and academic contexts. We are in the process of discussing curricular changes that reflect our commitment to a broad liberal arts experience for our students. We continue to evaluate and improve our Programs to ensure that our students experience the best our department has to offer.
