Gerardo Paez
Joined UM-Flint faculty 2008.

Education: B.S in Science-Education, M.S. in Genetics, Ph.D. in Genetics

Teaching Areas: Limnology, ecology and introduction biology.

Courses Taught: Genetics, Medical Genetics, Principles of Biology, Molecular Biology of Prokaryotes, Cell Biology.

Research Interests: RAS/MAPKinase signal transduction pathways in the Drosophila melanogaster developing eye. Understanding the association of RAS/MAPK pathway with Adensine Deaminase ( an ezyme whose deficiency produces severe combined immunodeficiency (SCID) in humans, P53 (tumor suppressor protein) whose mutations remains the most common genetic change identified in human neoplasia, and P38 (mitogen activated protein kinase, associated to development and human cancer) may contribute to understand both the causes of s well as to develop means of intervention for these diseases.
