As Director, Dr. McKay manages and supervises CAPS staff, as well as organizes and develops CAPS programs and initiatives. Dr. McKay provides direct clinical services, conducts outreach presentations, and serves on various committees.
Valerie Jackson, LMSW
Counseling Social Worker
As a Counseling Center Social Worker, Val evaluates and treats university students with psychological and psychiatric conditions, behavioral health issues, developmental concerns and systemic difficulties through individual, couples and group therapy. She also provides assistance in coordinating support and services for students with disabilities to ensure their needs are adequately met as well as provides crisis intervention services.
As the front-line administrative support for CAPS, Ms. Vamossy greets and provides information/services to students, faculty, and staff; assesses walk-in or phone inquiries for same-day crisis counseling or regular appointments; schedules appointments; oversees Testing Center activities for Accessibility Services; develops and updates campus communications; and provides a safe and confidential space for all students and clients. You will find her at the front desk greeting and providing services to all of UM-Flint students.
