Exam Accommodations

Our office approves and coordinates exam accommodations for students registered with our office.  These accommodations often include extended testing time and taking exams in a reducted distraction environment.  Students are required to provide an Exam Accommodation Form which is completed by the by the faculty member for each exam.  Below is a link to the form as well as instructions for providing extended time for online exams and administering pop quizzes.

Sample Syllabus Statement regarding Accommodations

Accommodations: "The University of Michigan-Flint complies with Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990.  The university provides individuals with disabilities reasonable accommodations to participate in educational programs, activities, and services.  Students with disabilities requiring accommodations to participate in class activities or meet course requirements should self-identify with Counseling, Accessibility, and Psychological Services (CAPS) at 810-762-3456 as early as possible.  The office is located in 264 University Center (UCEN).  The Web address is http://www.umflint.edu/caps.  Students are also expected to discuss course accommodations with their professors by the end of the first week of classes."


Faculty Handbook

The Faculty Handbook provides information which outlines policies and procedures for faculty members in meeting the guidelines outlined in the Rehabilitation Act, Section 504 and the Americans with Disabilities Act.  It also describes the role faculty in creating and maintaining an inclusive environment for students with disabilities.
