Choosing a major/career is an important decision that will shape your college education and subsequent career path. When choosing a major, consider:

  • What keeps your interest and motivation?
  • What challenges you?
  • What reflects your values?
  • What is within your abilities?
  • What is a realistic and attainable goal?

Selecting a major is not a decision that should be made hastily. You should spend time researching different majors in a variety of fields, talking with academic advisors/counselors, professors and other students. Listed below are some resources to help you with this decision.

Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI)
The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator or (MBTI) is a online personal preference assessment tool offered to UM-Flint students. It is recommended you take the MBTI after you have completed the Focus2 evaluation. If you are interested in learning more about MBTI, email us to learn more. 

Strong Interest Inventory (SII)
