Commitment to Service (CTS)
Commitment to Service (CTS) - In order to receive this distinguished honor, a student must:
*Complete and document at least 300 hours of service. Service activities should meet a recognized community need through a non-profit agency, group or school.
Activities may include:
Direct Service, such as tutoring, caring for the poor, building homes
Indirect Service, such as fundraisers or public relations for a non-profit organization
Advocacy, such as lobbying or political development
Community Organization, such as voter registration drives or community gardens
*Submit a two-page final reflection essay prior to graduation. Guidelines for the essay will be provided by the Center for Civic Engagement (CCE).
Service projects may be completed as part of a course, a university sponsored community service program, a student organization / club, or through a student's own initiative. All allowable hours must be documented on the Community Service Learning Transcript Forms provided by CCE. All hours must be submitted by the last day of the semester in which they occurred.

BACK TO SCHOOL SUPPLIES:
Assist children in foster care go back to school fully prepared. Backpacks, pens, pencils, notebooks and other common school supplies are needed. Gale, Ennis Center for Children, (810) 233-4031.
CARING FOR OTHERS AT THE HOLIDAYS:
Join a team of Resource Center volunteers to collect information on human service agencies' clients' wishes and needs, enter into the computer, and compile a comprehensive Holiday Wish List. The Wish List is published four consecutive Sundays in The Flint Journal to attract donors beginning November 24. Flexible hours through January. NURSES, PHARMACISTS, RECEPTIONISTS, MEDICAL ASSISTANTS, COMPUTER TEACHERS: Help low-income, uninsured adults of Genesee County obtain health care at no charge to them, Tuesdays through Fridays. Genesee County Free Medical Clinic, Brenda or Carolyn, (810) 235-4211.
CLOTHING: New clothing, shoes and winter coats, sizes newborn to XXL men's and women's, for children ages 0-21 to be distributed to underpiviledged and at-risk children. Karen, Child Advocacy Team, (810) 238-5425.WE CARE TOTES: Donate soaps, shampoos, conditioners hair products deoderants, toothbrushes and toothpaste, combs, brushes, razors, feminie hygiene products, and other personal hygiene products for "Wee Care Totes" which are distributed to neglected, abused, abandoned chidren and at-risk families.
