Message From President Coleman: Chancellor Search
Dear faculty, students and staff:
I am preparing to launch a national search to identify Juan Mestas’ successor as chancellor of the University of Michigan – Flint, and I would greatly value your input.
First, I welcome your thoughts about the challenges and opportunities the campus faces, and the qualities that we should seek in a new chancellor. I will be visiting the campus on September 27 to hear from members of the campus community in person; details of the visit will be announced at a later time. In the meantime, please do not hesitate to respond with your comments.
Second, I am appointing a search advisory committee to assist me in the process of identifying and recruiting a new chancellor; I would appreciate your suggestions of individuals to serve on that committee.
Third, we welcome at any time your nominations of possible candidates for the position of chancellor for review by the search advisory committee.
Lisa Connolly, project specialist in the president’s office, will assist with the search and act as my liaison to the search advisory committee. You can e-mail any responses you have to the above questions to me (marysc@umich.edu), or to Ms. Connolly (limajeff@umich.edu).
Thank you for your consideration and your advice. As I have said before, the University of Michigan – Flint has a future of great promise; I look forward to working with you to find a chancellor who will lead toward fulfillment of that promise.
Sincerely,
Mary Sue Coleman
