 | When do I apply for admissions?
 | Typically, students apply for admissions in their senior year of
undergraduate studies. If you meet all of the admission's criteria,
you may apply for early admissions by November 15. The deadline for
standard admissions is January 15.
|
|
 | What should my undergraduate major be?
 | You can choose to major in any field you like, as long as you take the
pre-requisites courses for the DPT program. Most students either
earn a BS in Health Sciences or a BA in Human Biology.
|
|
 | Do I have to take the GRE?
 | Yes, you do need to take the GRE but you do not need a specific score
is not required. You do not need to have already taken the exam when
you submit your admissions application material. However, scores
must be submitted to UMF before the first day of your graduate classes.
It usually takes several weeks for the school to receive your scores, so
plan accordingly!
|
|
 | Do I need to be certified in First Aid and CPR before I submit my
application?
 | No, but a copy of your certification cards must be submitted before
the first day of your graduate classes.
|
|
 | How many hours of observation do I need and where do I go?
 | You need to have completed at least 50 hours of observation with a
licensed Physical Therapist before you apply for the DPT program.
These hours can be volunteer or work experience. Faculty members
want to know that you have explored the field, so try to divide your hours
between two or more different types of patient settings. There is
not a designated clinic for observation. Contact a clinic of your
choice and explain that you are a current student majoring in Pre-Physical
Therapy and would like to observe a Physical Therapist. Most
settings will be willing to work with you. |
