2013 Critical Issues Forum

2013 Critical Issues Forum

People. Patterns. Connections.

“The answer is that moral reflection is not a solitary pursuit but a public endeavor. It requires an interlocutor—a friend, a neighbor, a comrade, a fellow citizen.”

               - Michael Sandel, Ph.D., Harvard Professor and 2013 Critical Issues Forum Speaker

It is often lamented that in a world that has become more global—more technologically advanced—we are losing our connection to people. There is a growing fear that the advances of modern society have led to a more impersonal experience, as people appear more engrossed in electronic devices than in conversation. That is why it is more important than ever to gather as a community, and join in a dialogue about the things that matter to our collective future.

For nearly 30 years, the Frances Willson Thompson Critical Issues Forum has brought leading national and global experts to explore the complexities of the challenges facing the human race.

The roster of speakers at the 2013 Critical Issues Forum includes an eclectic, distinguished group of individuals. These speakers will lead us through thought-provoking discussions that show how we are all interconnected through our experiences and exchanges. By examining our ways as a people, the patterns we adapt, and the connections we make, we have the tools and the knowledge we need to discover new opportunities and solutions.

Join us in this public endeavor of reflection on the critical issues of our times.
