Assistant Professor of Mechanical Engineering

The University of Michigan-Flint invites applications for two tenure-track faculty positions at the Assistant Professor level to begin duties in Fall 2015.  The position requires an earned doctorate in Mechanical Engineering (by May 2015) with undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering or other closely related engineering discipline,  demonstrated ability and commitment to excellence in undergraduate and graduate teaching, professional development/research, and service. Candidates with strong background and teaching experience in fundamental disciplines in mechanical engineering are encouraged to apply.  Preference will be given to candidates with prior teaching experience in courses in kinematics, dynamics, vibration, Finite Element Analysis, automotive engineering, and computer aided design.  Knowledge and experience with ABET assessment process and professional engineering registration is also preferred. The candidates selected for these positions must meet eligibility requirements to work in the United States at the time the appointment is scheduled to begin and continue working legally for the proposed term of employment. Additionally, the candidate must be able to communicate effectively in English.

The University of Michigan-Flint invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor level to begin duties in Fall 2015.  The position requires an earned doctorate in Computer Science or Computer Information Systems (by May 2015), and demonstrated ability and commitment to excellence in undergraduate and graduate teaching, professional development/research, and service.  Preference will be given to candidates specializing in Database or Information Systems but applicants in other Computer Science areas are also encouraged.  The candidate selected for this position must be able to communicate effectively in English, must meet eligibility requirements to work in the United States at the time the appointment is scheduled to begin, and must be able to continue working legally for the proposed term of employment.

Assistant Professor of Physics

Minimum requirements are as follows:

Ph.D. in Physics or closely related discipline
Evidence of high quality teaching in an undergraduate physics program
Record of published research and promise of future productivity

 

Preference will be given to the candidate who has previous teaching experience in undergraduate physics courses beyond laboratory instruction.  Post doctoral experience is desirable, but not required. Duties include teaching a wide range of physics courses and advising students; developing a research program involving undergraduate students that leads to refereed publications along with securing the necessary resources for that program; performing professional service at the department, college, and university levels including student recruitment.
