Biography

Guluma Gemeda is an Assistant Professor of African and African American History. He earned his B.A. and M.A. degrees from Addis Ababa University, Ethiopia, and his Ph.D. from Michigan State University. He has taught at Addis Ababa University and Northern Michigan University. His research is focused on the social and economic history of coffee in Ethiopia.

Teaching

Dr. Gemeda believes in interactive teaching. He likes to engage students in discussions and promote critical thinking. He believes good personal relationship between the instructor and the students is crucial for student motivation and better learning.

Dr. Gemeda is a member and an active participant in African Studies Association, the International Conference of Ethiopian Studies, and the Oromo Studies Association. Currently, he is serving as Secretary of the Oromo Studies Association.
