FLEMING A. & MARIAN E. BARBOUR  SCHOLARSHIP FUND
Dr. & Mrs. Fleming A. Barbour have been recognized as community leaders and humanitarians since
1940 when the couple located in Flint.  Fleming A. Barbour, a University of Michigan alumnus, served
our community as an ophthalmologist for fifty years.  In addition to his medical career, Dr. Barbour’s
leadership and philanthropic spirit have touched institutions and organizations through the area, with
significant influence on the University of Michigan-Flint campus. He has served the Flint campus as a
former member of the Citizens Advisory Committee and the Library Development Committee. As an
expression of the Barbours’ longstanding support of and friendship with UM-Flint and their belief in
high education, they established the Fleming A. and Marian E. Barbour Scholarship in 1997 to provide
scholarship assistance for pre-med students.
