Peggy Kahn ~ ~ David M. French Distinguished Professor of Political Science (Ph.D. University of California at Berkeley 1984) joined the UM-Flint faculty in 1984 and specializes with courses in comparative politics, European politics, and women's work. Her present research is on the dynamics and dilemmas of women's low-paid work in the service sector, both in the United States and Great Britain. Kahn also teaches in the Women and Gender Studies program. Contact: pegkahn@umflint.edu
Jason Kosnoski ~ ~ Assistant Professor of Political Science (Ph.D. New School for Social Research 2003) joined the UM-Flint faculty in 2005 and teaches courses in political theory. Before joining the faculty at UM-Flint, he was Junior Fellow at the Institut fur die Wissenschaften vom Menschen in Vienna, Austria, and taught at the City University of New York and the University of California at San Diego. His research specializes in contemporary political theory, with a special emphasis on democratic theory, and the work of John Dewey and Jurgen Habermas. Contact: kosnoski@umflint.edu
William Laverty ~~ Assistant Professor (Ph.D. Indiana University 2005) teaches courses on public policy, public administration, urban affairs, state, regional, and local government as well as American national institutions. His major research interests involve intergovernmental relations and issues related to private property rights, water resource policy, rapidly growing urban areas, and endangered species. Laverty teaches in the Master in Public Administration program. Contact: blaverty@umflint.edu
Derwin S. Munroe ~~ (Department Chair) teaches courses on comparative politics and international relations, and joined the UM-Flint faculty in 1999. His doctoral research on Venezuelan state formation was funded by a Fulbright award and the Organization of American States. His current interests lie in US foreign policy, development and economic policy, and contentious politics in the Caribbean and Latin America. Contact: dmunroe@umflint.edu
Albert C. Price ~~ Professor of Political Science and Public Administration. (Ph.D. University of Connecticut 1980) joined the faculty in 1980. His major research and teaching interests involve the combined areas of Public Law and Public Administration. Price is currently the Director of the Master in Public Administration program, the Pre-Law advisor, and Director of the Law and Society program. Contact: acprice@umflint.edu
Stephen J. Rockwell ~~ (On leave 2006-07) Assistant Professor of Political Science (Ph.D. Brandeis University 2001) teaches courses on American government and politics, and public administration. His research interests are American national government and politics, American Indian affairs and politics, race and ethnicity issues, and public administration. Before coming to UM-Flint, he was Senior Research Analyst at the Brookings Institution in Washington, D.C. Rockwell teaches in the Master in Public Administration program.
