Corporate and Foundation Relations
Corporate and Foundation Relations (CFR) at the University of Michigan-Flint serves as a point of contact for corporations and foundations, and it works to support all university units, students, faculty, and staff who may be seeking funding for programs, projects, and initiatives. CFR works to promote opportunities for interactions with corporations and foundations, matching university initiatives to philanthropic agendas, and managing stewardship and recognition.
For more information about what CFR can do for you, contact Rebecca Pettengill, Corporation and Foundation Relations Officer, at (810) 424-5449 or rpetteng@umflint.edu.
Faculty, Staff, and Students
Corporate and Foundation Relations is here to provide UM-Flint faculty, staff, and students with the support they need when seeking funding in the form of a grant or sponsorship for a project, program, or event. CFR will match your idea with the best funding opportunity or we can provide a list of possible funders after performing an online search.
The services CFR provides to campus include:
-
Identifying corporate or foundation prospects for support of campus projects.
-
Developing diverse funding packages from projects that coordinate private and public funds.
-
Identifying potential program and project sponsorships.
-
Working collaboratively with the Office of Research to maximize funding opportunities for corporate and foundation support for research projects and programs.
Our office will also assist with gathering supplemental information for proposals such as audited financial statements, 501 (c) (3) letter, list of Regents, etc.
How to Request Assistance
To create a coordinated and successful effort to increase funding from corporations and foundations please follow these steps:
Do you have an idea and need a funding source?
If so please fill out a Request to Fund. After completing this form and submitting it online the information that you have supplied will be sent to the CFR office. A search will be performed to identify a list of potential sources for your project or event and will be sent to you via email in 7-10 business days.
If there is a source on the list you have received that you would like to approach, please fill out an Intent to Approach for Funding form.
Do you have an idea and have a funding source in mind?
If you have a corporation or foundation in mind that you would like to approach, please fill out an Intent to Approach for Funding form. The Intent to Approach form, if approved, will give you the authorization you need to submit a letter of inquiry or a concept paper to a potential funder. After completing an Intent to Approach for Funding and submitting it online your request will be send to the CFR office for approval. Confirmation of approval or denial of your request will be sent via email as quickly as possible. Please be sure to identify imminent deadlines. The normal approval path is department chair, dean, and provost.
