We Can Do It Together!
Your gift makes a difference! There are 843 employees on the Flint Campus. If everyone gave a one time gift of $15, $12,645 would be raised, that would allow UM-Flint to offer two $6,000 scholarships at the 2008 Scholarship Competition - the Provost's initiative to help recruit the most highly qualified students to attend the university.
Remember, your gift does not only have to go to the Scholarship Competition - it's only one suggestion. There are many choices available and not all of them could be listed. Many donors choose to give to a specific department or program, while others give to support the Annual Fund - a program which offers grant opportunities to faculty, staff and students.
Gifts from faculty and staff make the difference when corporations and foundations are considering UM-Flint for a grant. One of the first things these organizations look at is whether the employees support the institution monetarily. They believe if the faculty and staff trust the school with their donation, they can too. Last year colleges and universities around the country reported a 25-50% faculty and staff participation rate. The University of Michigan-Flint reported 7.5%. There is a lot of work to be done, but as stated before, we CAN do it together!
