What areas at the University of Michigan-Flint can benefit from my support?
When making a gift to the University of Michigan-Flint, you can choose to support any of the following areas.
Scholarships
You can make it possible for a student to attend UM-Flint. You could fund the education for a future doctor, teacher, or business leader. An accessible education is at the core of the UM-Flint mission. Scholarships open doors to deserving students, allowing them to focus on their education, not on how they will pay for it. It all starts with you. For information on specific scholarship funding opportunities, including the annual University of Michigan-Flint Scholarship Competition, visit our Scholarships page or contact the Office of Development and Alumni Relations.
College, Schools, and Programs
Departments and programs on campus are turning to donors like you for support as State funding continues to decrease. Learn how and where your gift can make the difference to better serve our students.

Making a gift is as easy as writing a check and letting us know, in a letter, how you would like the gift to be used. You can mail your gift to: Development and Alumni Relations, 303 East Kearsley Street, Flint, MI 48502-1950.
Securities
There are several advantages when it comes to Gifts of Securities. With this type of gift you get an income tax deduction based on the value of the securities at the time you make the gift and you avoid capital gains tax on the appreciated value of the securities. Another plus is that the university can immediately use the proceeds for the purpose you specify or for general support of essential initiatives. The value of your gift will be the average of the high and the low trading prices on the official date of your gift. The date of gift is the day the University assumes ownership of the security.
