About the Fund
An annual fund, sometimes called an Enrichment Fund, is the fund designated by the campus to procure unrestricted gifts for the unit. Gifts free of restrictions give deans and chancellors a reliable, flexible supply of funds that enable the unit to place resources where they are most immediately needed or where oppurtunities are greatest. Common uses of unrestricted funds include student aid, faculty support, emergency renovations, new academic initiatives, research assistance, and the purchase of books, collections, supplies and equipment.
The Annual Fund is the resource used most often to help fund life-altering intiatives. Generous gifts to this fund have helped transform the lives of our students by funding critical scholarships, research, and campus projects. During 2002-2003, the Annual Fund was used to support:
-
Scholarship assistance
-
Computer equipment and "smart carts"
-
Early Childhood Development Center
-
Student and faculty participation in conferences and competitions
-

-

-

Anyone who is an alumnus or alumnae of UM-Flint or has made a gift to a fundraising program is solicited annually by the organization with which they are affiliated.
If someone does not wish to be solicited, the person should call the Alumni Donor Help Line at (734) 647-6200 and request that the University code the person's record for NO Solicitation. Records can be coded to eliminate solicitations from a specific unit or from the University.

Donor gifts to the UM-Flint Annual Fund supported a recent trip by Mathematics Professor Ricardo Alfaro to the Latin America Algebra Colloquium. With resources from the Annual Fund, Prof. Alfaro was able to present and discuss his research on ring theory as it relates to the secure transmission of information.
