  • Economics General Program (BS)

    **Note:  Pending approval by President's Council.

    The Bachelor of Science in Economics is intended to provide a more rigorous option for students interested in graduate school, given the quantitative nature of graduate study and the profession in general.

    Requirements.

    A.  Economics (36 credits).  To include ECN 201ECN 202ECN 315ECN 354ECN 480 and no more than three credits from ECN 391ECN 394ECN 395.
    B.  Statistics (3 credits).  MTH 272 (preferred) or BUS 211 or SOC 215 or equivalent.

    C.  Social sciences (12 credits).  An introductory course and at least nine additional credits at the 300 level or higher, outside economics.

    D.  Mathematics (8 credits).  MTH 121MTH 122.

    E.  All requirements of the College of Arts and Sciences Bachelor of Science degree, including general education requirements

  • Economics Minor

    The Minor in Economics is designed for students who wish to concentrate in another area but whose career goals require a strong background in economics. This minor is particularly  well suited to students who wish to pursue careers in business, finance, government, journalism, law, or related areas. Successful completion of the Minor in Economics is recorded on the official transcript.

    Requirements. Eighteen credits in economics as follows:

    1. ECN 201, ECN 202, ECN 315, ECN 354  (12 credits).
    2. Two additional courses at or above 300-level, selected in consultation with an Economics Department advisor (6 credits).
