Online Synchronous Course Schedule
At the University of Michigan-Flint, we understand that you have a busy schedule as a professional educator. That’s why we designed our master’s in Educational Administration program to provide online synchronous coursework with once-a-month, Saturday classes offered as online synchronous sessions.
Part-time Study
The Educational Administration master’s degree program typically can be finished in 20 months. Coursework is completed part-time to help you find your balance between work and graduate school. All required courses must be completed within five calendar years of initial enrollment.
Small Cohorts
The Educational Administration online program provides an inclusive learning environment. You complete the program with a small cohort of 20-30 fellow students who share your passion for educational excellence. This cohort structure enables you to develop a strong support network for personal and professional development.
School Administrator Certificate & Path to a Doctorate
The MA in Educational Administration is approved by the Michigan Department of Education for Principal Preparation. Upon graduation from the program, you are eligible to apply for the mandatory School Administrator Certificate.

The online Master of Arts in Educational Administration program encompasses the following courses. Typically, you would finish two courses each fall and winter semester and one course each spring and summer semester. Besides the online coursework, you attend once-a-month, Saturday classes offered as online synchronous sessions.

Admission Requirements (No GRE Required)
The University of Michigan-Flint’s rigorous online Master of Arts in Educational Administration expects applicants to meet the following admission requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution
- Minimum overall undergraduate grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
- A teaching certificate or other P-12 teaching/administrative experience. (Applicants without a teaching certificate must include a statement about their P-12 teaching/administrative experience with their application.)
How to Apply to the Online Master’s in Educational Administration Program
To be considered for admission to the online MA in Educational Administration degree program, submit an online application below. Other materials can be emailed to [email protected] or delivered to the Office of Graduate Programs, 251 Thompson Library.

- $55 application fee (non-refundable)
- Official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended. Please read our full transcript policy for more information.
- For any degree completed at a non-US institution, transcripts must be submitted for an internal credential review. Read the following for instructions on how to submit your transcripts for review.
- If English is not your native language, and you are not from an exempt country, you must demonstrate English proficiency.
- Statement of Purpose describing your reasons for pursuing the degree
- Three letters of recommendation from individuals knowledgeable of your potential for advanced academic study
- Copy of Teaching Certificate or a statement about your P-12 teaching experience (this requirement is currently being waived)
- Students from abroad must submit additional documentation.
This program is fully online. Admitted students will not be able to obtain a student (F-1) visa to pursue the degree. However, students living outside of the US may complete this program online in their country, but will not be eligible for certification. Application Deadlines
This program offers rolling admission with monthly application reviews. Please submit all application materials to the Office of Graduate Programs by 5 p.m. on the day of the application deadline.
Application deadlines are as follows:
- Fall (early review*) – May 1
- Fall (final review) – August 1
- Winter – December 1
*You must have a complete application by the early deadline to guarantee application eligibility for scholarships, grants, and research assistantships.
