2008 End-of-Year Party for English Language Program

To celebrate the end of the year, the English Language Program had a party!  All students that took an ELP class during the Fall 2007 or Winter 2008 term received a Certificate of Completion presented in a special folder.  They also had the chance to have their name read and walk across the stage, like an American graduation ceremony.  The weather was beautiful!  The sun shone through the windows in the University Pavilion, where the ceremony was held.  Many teachers and staff came to share in the food and fun.

Four ELP students enjoy lunch at the classic diner counter in the Pavilion.  From left to right: Yow-Shiuan Tsai, Piei-Chen Lee, Wei-Cheng Hung and Hsiao-Tien Peng.The elegant buffet lunch includes a fruit platter decorated with a carved watermelon bird, salad, hot meatballs, and chocolate-covered strawberries.  Flags of the countries represented on campus by faculty, staff and students decorate the room.

 
Under the University of Michigan-Flint seal, Academic Coordinator Kathy Cornman thanks the other programs and departments on campus who have given help to the English Language Program.  She congratulates the students and instructors on their hard work this semester.Jungjin Shin (Brian), left, and Sang Ho Shin, both of Kwangwoon University in South Korea, take pride in their Certificates of Completion.

 

  
Wei-Cheng Hung accepts her Certificate of Completion from Kathy Cornman and Kim Butka, Interim Director of the International Student Center.  She now wants to study Business.Students are proud of their hard work and excited about their time at UM-Flint.  Many of them look forward to coming back to the United States for more school or for future work opportunities.  From left: Yu-Ju Li, Hsuan-Hung Ho, and Yow-Shiuan Tsai.

  
Feeding time at the ELP Party!  Say hello to Sang Ho Shin, Sang-Pil Je, Jungjin Shin, Wen-Chien Chien, and Jessie Hurse. Friendships formed between females: Yu-Shan Li (Sandra) and Yi-Hsiu Kuan (Rita) hug onstage after receiving their certificates.  Friendships formed here in the U.S. can lead to future partnerships and opportunities.
