A Day in the Garden
A Day in the Garden - June 3, 2008
Urban Alternatives House is a joint project between University Outreach, UM-Flint faculty and the Genesee County Land Bank.
It is a formerly abandoned house near downtown being remade into both a classroom and laboratory to teach and explore better ideas for urban living.
June 3rd, 2008 was one of the first days any work had been done on the yard.

Yi-Xuan Chi (Akon) and Instructor Kathy Cornman helped to ready the yard for the summer season.
It was the first time that Akon, a native of Shanghai, China, had done yardwork or worked in a garden. He spent the day learning the English words for "shovel," "rake," "glove" and other garden items. He is joined by Acting Associate Provost Chris Waters, and helpers from different departments of University of Michigan-Flint.
