H1N1 Vaccination Clinic Schedule
Free H1N1 Vaccination Clinic: Tuesday, 12/15 at UM-Flint Recreation Center
The Michigan Department of Community Health and all local health departments in Michigan, including the Genesee County Health Department are lifting restrictions on who may receive the vaccine for the novel H1N1 flu effective Monday, December 14, 2009.
In an effort to reach more members of the University of Michigan – Flint community, the University has scheduled a vaccination clinic open to student, faculty, staff, family members and the general public for TUESDAY, December 15th at the University Recreation Center. The vaccine will be available from 9:00– 11:00 am and 1:00 – 4:00 pm.
Individuals under age 18 MUST have a parent be present at the time of vaccination and sign the required consent forms. Please note the specific vaccine supply available at the upcoming H1N1 flu vaccination clinics is limited for individuals four years of age or older. Children 9 years old or younger who already received their first dose of H1N1 flu vaccine need a second dose of vaccine at least 4 weeks after their first dose for full protection. Parents/Guardians seeking a second dose for their children should bring each child’s H1N1 flu vaccination record. Nurses will be at the clinic to answer any additional questions.
Nasal spray H1N1 vaccine will be administered unless specific health conditions or age prevent its use. Injectable vaccine will be administered to those who cannot take the nasal spray vaccine.
Questions Concerning the Vaccine
The University recommends that individuals interested in further information regarding the H1N1 vaccine should contact their personal physician or also check the Genesee County Health Department website.
If you have any other questions concerning the scheduled vaccination clinics or other related H1N1 flu questions, you are encouraged to send your questions to fluquestions@umflint.edu.
Future H1N1 Vaccinations and Clinics
Although, the initial arrival of the H1N1 flu vaccine has been received in limited quantities, we anticipate more vaccine to continue to be distributed from the State and County through the community. The University will continue to make the vaccine available either through additional clinics or through the UHWC. Additionally, continue to check the GCHD website for other vaccination clinics scheduled near your home.
Stay healthy and continue to take good care of yourself. Thank you for your ongoing efforts this flu season.
