Dr. Foster's Book Discussion "Twenty-five Books That Shaped America: How White Whales, Green Lights, and Restless Spirits Forged Our National Identity"
Have you ever wondered what a professor does while on sabbatical? Believe it or not, it’s not a vacation. Many professors accomplish impressive research and publish engaging works. At UM-Flint, we are fortunate to have a brilliant teaching faculty and Sigma Tau Delta would like to acknowledge the hard work of our esteemed professors. This year we will offer the campus community, as well as the public, an opportunity to collaboratively discuss new theories in the advancement of rhetorical analysis and literary critique. Please join us for our first book discussion with host Dr. Tom Foster. He will discuss his newest publication, "Twenty-five Books That Shaped America: How White Whales, Green Lights, and Restless Spirits Forged Our National Identity."
WHEN/WHERE: October 24th at 6pm in the Happenings Room
Ongoing Event - Enlightening Academic Workshops
The common myth: Graduates with an English Degree are starving writers or teachers. The common truth: Graduates with an English Degree work within most professions. In a cross-collaboration with the Marian E. Wright Writing Center and Career Resource Center, the members of Sigma Tau Delta will be leading workshops in areas of writing across the curriculum, study skills, resume writing, and rhetorical analysis. Fellow students, of any academic discipline, are encouraged to attend these sessions to help enhance and cultivate critical thinking for successful skills in school and beyond.
WHEN/WHERE: Ongoing throughout the Fall and Winter Semester. Announcements of workshops to be made through Student Life, Email, and Poster Presentation throughout the upcoming 2012-2013 Academic Year
