UM-Flint’s Department of Public Safety (DPS) is committed to making the campus and its surrounding community safe and secure. DPS employs the latest in security technology, including campus cameras, remote building locks, license plate readers, and emergency notification systems. DPS police officers are trained in Ann Arbor, outfitted with body cameras, and equipped for law enforcement, and fire and medical assistance.
The DPS Student Patrol (about 20 members) is the “highly visible” student presence and involvement arm of DPS, recognizable by their maize and blue jackets. DPS engages with broader campus and community safety through a variety of activity including resident hall block clubs, safety marches, Community Comp Stat, and the Flint Urban Safety Corps.
