Thompson Center for Learning & Teaching (TCLT)

The Thompson Center for Learning & Teaching (TCLT), housed on the 1st floor of the Thompson Library, consistently offers professional development opportunities and assists faculty in their efforts to excel at the craft of teaching.

Toward this end, the TCLT provides the following:

The Office of Research and Sponsored Programs offers a variety of integrated research support services to UM-Flint faculty, staff, and students: 

  • Guidance for Human Subjects Research (IRB) 
  • Pre and post-award research administration
  • Human Subject Incentive Payments (HSIP)
  • Development of research agendas
  • Workshops and webinars 
  • Online survey research through Qualtrics
  • Statistics support 
  • Internal Funding opportunitites
  • External funding resources 
  • Research poster printing

For tenure-track faculty, Office of Research provides start-up funds for research related expenses

Based on faculty interests, Office of Research can perform searches for external funding opportunities. (All proposals submitted to an external agency for research/program funding are processed through Office of Research) 

Office of Research facilitates several internal funding opportunities each year. 

The Undergraduate Research Opportunity Program (UROP) provides stipends to students who work on faculty-led research projects. Contact: Andre Louis 

Weekly emails to faculty containing Office of Research news, deadlines, internal funding announcements, and a list of external agency funding announcements. 

Institutional Review Board (IRB)

The UM-Flint Institutional Review Board's (IRB) primary goal is to protect the rights and welfare of human research subjects recruited to participate in research activities conducted under the auspices of the University of Michigan.

All human subjects research projects must receive IRB approval before investigators may begin any aspect of their project.

UM-Flint faculty should consult IRB for any/all of the following:
