Cost of Attendance

Financial aid programs were created with the idea that the primary responsibility for paying college costs rests with the student and his or her family. Need based financial aid is available to families who demonstrate a need for additional resources to help pay college costs. The formula used to determine whether you are eligible for need based aid is:

 Budget (Cost of Attendance)
 - Expected Family Contribution (EFC)
 - Scholarships/Other Resources
(Sponsored Tuition Payments, Veterans' Benefits, etc.)
 = NEED FOR AID

BUDGET
The budget on SIS represents a reasonable estimate of the cost of attending the University of Michigan - Flint for 2007-2008 Fall/Winter.  The components of the budget are as follows:

  • Estimated Tuition & Fees
  • Room & Board
  • Books & Supplies
  • Transportation Costs
  • Personal/Misc. Expenses

NOTE:  Tuition and Fees are the only portion of the budget that will show as charges on the student's account.

In order to get a better idea of our budget and to better estimate how much may need to be borrowed we encourage all students to use our Borrowing Smart worksheet.
