Each year, the Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures joins with Longway Planetarium's "Poetry Under the Stars" series to present a night of special performances.
Students and faculty members read poetry or sing songs in their native or chosen languages and then a discussion in English will take place, all under a beautiful night sky provided by the Planetarium.
According to Longway, "No matter where you stand on Earth, look up and you’ll see the same sky as everyone else. People from every culture have pondered the night sky in amazement and have been moved and inspired."
Past programs have included performances in Arabic, French, Spanish, Mandarin Chinese, and other languages.
Longway Planetarium is located at 1221 East Kearsley Street in Flint.
