Freshmen Merit Scholarships

Freshmen Merit Scholarships

High school students applying as first-time freshmen now have access to more scholarship funds to help pay for their respected UM-Flint education. Instantly available to motivated students with strong academic records, our newly expanded Freshmen Merit Scholarship program offers awards ranging up to $7,000 a year, with limited full-ride awards available.

There are a variety of options for you to apply for admission. In addition to our traditional online application (no fee required), UM-Flint now offers incoming freshmen the option of applying through the Common Application. You can also download an application and return it to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions along with a nonrefundable $30 application fee.

Admission Requirements

UM-Flint offers flexible admission requirements for students who bring a wide range of academic backgrounds and experiences to our campus. In addition to your GPA, we look at test scores, the high school you attended, and nonacademic qualities such as leadership and community engagement.

Student Veterans

UM-Flint welcomes veterans and active-duty service men and woman to our campus. Student veterans are welcome to apply hereTo support a successful transition to university and civilian life, we also offer the dedicated services of our Student Veterans Resource Center. This center offers assistance with accessing education benefits as well as connecting to campus and community resources.
