David E. Lossing, M.P.A.
Director for Government Relations

As Director for Government Relations, David Lossing directs the University's Government Relations programs at the local, state and federal levels.  His responsibilities include planning and developing the institution's response to proposed legislation; developing and maintaining effective relationships with governmental agencies and officials; and analyzing and assessing legislative, administrative and regulatory activities as they pertain to University programs, activities and operations.

Prior to his appointment as director in October 2006, Lossing served as associate director of State Outreach on the University’s Ann Arbor campus in the Office of Government Relations.  He also served on the congressional staff of U.S. Sen. Carl Levin (MI) for nearly nine years overseeing two of the Senator’s congressional offices in Macomb and Saginaw counties.

Lossing earned a Masters of Public Administration in Health Care Administration in 2008 from the University of Michigan and a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Michigan-Flint in 1987.  He was also a Fellow in the Michigan Political Leadership Program at Michigan State Unviersity in 1994.
