Project Description: The student will complete a research project in a vital and under-examined area: Black Theatre Companies. The project will include an emphasis on 1] programing choices, 2] outreach ventures, 3] management profiles, and 4] fiscal resources and viability. No current study exists which reliably compares any of these companies. It can fill a major gap in theatre research and contribute to the UMFlint program.

GSRA Position Description: The companies that will be examined include but are not limited to: Black Theatre Companies. The project will include an emphasis on 1] programing choices, 2] outreach ventures, 3] management profiles, 4] fiscal resources and viability. The companies that will be examined include but are not limited to: Black Ensemble (Chicago), Ploughshares (Detroit), Black Rep (St. Louis), Impact Theatre (NYC), Hansberry Theatre (Seattle) and Congo Square theatre (Chicago) and Flint's McCree Theatre.
Specific Day/Time Requirements: This is a project that will need 6 hours a week with two hours each week of direct supervision.
