Project Description: In conjunction with Christopher Paul Curtis' Winegarten Professorship, the Deaprtment of Theatre and Dance is mounting a full production of a stage adaptation of his youth novel, Bud, Not Buddy. The play is set in Flint and Grand Rapids in the 1930's. We see this production as an opportunity for outreach to area schools. The production is slated for a mid-March, 2010 opening.
Semesters Desired: Fall 2009; Winter 2010
GSRA Position Description: The GSRA would help do the necessary research for the production, participate in conceptual development, prepare a study guide for the schools, and arrange for school groups to attend the production.
Specific Day/Time Requirements: The work schedule of the GSRA would be flexible, but would require weekly meetings with the production team and/or acting company.
Special Requirements: I would prefer a student who has an interest in the project and who is willing and capable of representing the campus to outside constituents.
