Project Description: During the fall semester, the project will complete a needs assessment of practicing social workers who provide services to clients in the Greater Flint area. Responding to data collected in the needs assessment process, strategies to provide services to meet the needs will be developed, implemented and evaluated.
Semesters Desired: Fall 2011 AND Winter 2012
GSRA Position Description: The GSRA would be involved with all aspects of the project. Working closely with the faculty, the GSRA will learn survey, interview and focus group data collection strategies, and data analysis techniques of SPSS and qualitative content analysis in the fall. The GSRA will work with faculty to host the community building events that emerge from the data, potentially professional development sessions and agency planning forums.
Specific Day/Time Requirements: There is significant flexibility in the work of this project, Planning meetings would require one hour/week before 230pm but the day would be negotiable with the GSRA's calendar. The remainder of the assignment could be done at the GSRA's convenience. Dur
Special Requirements: Foundational skills in interacting with the public and basic computer skills are required. I will provide training in all other technologies as necessary.
