Project Description: ISO quality system standard was developed by International Standards Organization as a model for quality assurance in design, development, production, installation and service. It is a series of requirements for effective quality assurance and quality management. The registration implies compliance to documented practices so as to guarantee a consistant level of quality. Many nations adopted ISO as the model for quality standard and required registration to the standard as a mandatory condition for doing business with other nations.
The certification process requires a significant investment of both human as well as financial resources of the organization and there have been questions raised as to the worthiness of making such investments by organizations for obtaining certification. This study is designed to empirically estimate the impact of certification by comparing performance of companies with and without certification. A survey is designed to study the differences.
Semesters Desired: Fall 2009; Winter 2010
