Project Description:  The literature has long disputed whether national cultural distance increases or decreases the post-acquisition performance of cross-border foreign direct investments (FDI). While there are good arguments on both sides, few tried to explain the variation in this distance's impact, both sign and magnitude, on performance. This paper attempts to explain this variation using national-level FDI data.
