Doctor of Anesthesia Practice (DrAP) - Admission Requirements
Admission Requirements
You must satisfy the following requirements to be considered for admission:
- A master’s degree in science or nursing (MS or MSN) with a focus on nurse anesthesia from a program accredited by the Council on Accreditation (COA) of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs OR a post-master’s certificate in anesthesia accredited by the COA
- A minimum overall undergraduate grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale (or a 5.0 on the U-M 9.0 scale)
- Current, unrestricted licensure as a Registered Nurse
- Current, unrestricted licensure as a CRNA (or APRN if applicable)
Application Process
To be considered for admission, submit the following to the Office of Graduate Programs, 251 Thompson Library:

Application for Graduate Admission (apply online or with a paper application)

Application fee (non-refundable) payable to the University of Michigan-Flint
- Official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended
- A statement of purpose describing your reasons for pursuing the degree, areas of interest for elective courses, and an idea for your capstone project
- Three letters of recommendation including one from a supervisor/employer who can speak to your practice as a CRNA and one from someone qualified to comment on your academic abilities
- Copy of valid, unrestricted RN license
- Copy of valid, unrestricted CRNA (or APRN if applicable) license or state specialty certification (as appropriate for your state of residence or employment)
- Copy of current Certification or Recertification certificate from the appropriate Council
- International students must submit additional documentation.
Admission decisions for the Doctor of Anesthesia Practice program are made by the program admission committee in consultation wtih the program faculty.

Application Deadline
Applications are considered for the fall semester only. To be considered for admission, submit all applications materials to the Office of Graduate Programs on or before the application deadline:
- Fall 2011: July 15, 2011
- Fall 2012 and later: April 1
