Business Administration (MBA) - Concentrations
MBA concentrations are available to students wishing to specialize in one of the following areas. Students are not required to select a concentration. More than one concentration may be earned. Concentrations are awarded at the time of graduation.

The MBA with an Accounting concentration is designed to give professionals in accounting an understanding of concepts and skills essential in today's accounting practices. The demand for CPAs and all accountants continues to increase, especially for those who hold advanced accounting degrees. Accounting consistently has been a highly employable field. This has been enhanced by structural changes in recent years such as the Federal Sarbanes- Oxley Act and increased recognition of other certifications such as Certified Managerial Accountant (CMA).
In order to complete the courses in the accounting concentration, students will need to have completed the equivalent of two semesters of intermediate level financial accounting and one semester of intermediate level managerial accounting (those courses are numbered 320, 321, and 322 at UM-Flint).
In addition to foundation and core courses, students intending to concentrate in Accounting should complete the concentration courses as specified in the Catalog.
The MBA with a Computer Information Systems (CIS) concentration is designed to give professionals in the information system industry an understanding of concepts and skills essential in effectively managing their organizations. It focuses on contemporary issues in CIS and the information technology (IT) industry.
IIn addition to foundation and core courses, students intending to concentrate in Computer Information Systems should complete the concentration courses as specified in the Catalog.
The MBA with a Finance concentration is designed to prepare students for positions which demand graduates with a finance background and assist MBA students to prepare for professional finance certifications such as the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), the Federal Financial Management Certificate Program (FFMCP), and the Certified Financial Planner (CFP).
In addition to foundation and core courses, students intending to concentrate in Finance should complete the concentration courses as specified in the Catalog.
The MBA with Health Care Management concentration is designed to give professionals in the health care industry an understanding of concepts and skills essential in effectively managing health care organizations. It focuses on contemporary issues on health care administration and the health policy in the U.S. The required courses are taught by full-time faculty in the School of Health Professions and Studies. Elective courses within this concentration are taught by leading business professionals in the health care industry.
In addition to foundation and core courses, students intending to concentrate in Health Care Management should complete the concentration courses as specified in the Catalog.
The MBA with an International Business concentration allows students to learn about the international economy and its impact on various key industries, international financial market systems and corporate financial strategies, and the latest theories in applying marketing science in the international business arena. Students completing an MBA with an International Business concentration will be more attractive to potential employers operating in the global marketplace.

Lean Manufacturing (Kettering University)
The MBA with Lean Manufacturing concentration is designed to educate MBA students on different aspects of lean manufacturing processes. These include design of integrated production systems, design of standardized work using engineering methods and applied ergonomic and human factors, competitive issues facing the automotive supply chain, and planning and implementing quality systems. Students holding this degree will be more attractive to potential employers in this industry. Courses in the concentration area are offered by Kettering University's experienced faculty in this area.

The MBA with a Marketing concentration is designed to give professionals in the marketing industry an in-depth understanding of concepts and skills essential in marketing and branding. It focuses on contemporary issues and prepares students for global strategic marketing and management positions.
In addition to foundation and core courses, students intending to concentrate in Marketing should complete the concentration courses as specified in the Catalog.
The MBA with an Organizational Leadership concentration will be valuable to students who are choosing a position in general management or leadership or who are seeking to improve their management and leadership skills. This concentration focuses on leadership issues from a variety of perspectives. Specifically, it addresses innovation and entrepreneurship, explores organizational change, examines contemporary issues in leadership, and analyzes the most effective ways to recruit, choose, train, place, and develop human resources in organizations.
