Education (MA) - Early Childhood Concentration

This program is developed for individuals who hold elementary teaching certification and have or are seeking careers as teachers of young children, birth through eight years of age. Individuals with backgrounds in child development who do not hold teaching certificates may also be considered for enrollment in the program. It offers the option of earning the master’s degree, or endorsement only. Upon successful completion of the Master’s or endorsement only program and the Michigan Test for Teacher Certification in Early Childhood Education, graduates with teaching certificates from the State of Michigan will be eligible for a certificate endorsement in early childhood education (ZA). Individuals who wish to pursue a research career, coordinative/administrative position and/or doctoral degree in education are encouraged to select the thesis option.

Requirements for Master’s Program

36 credit hours as outlined below:
