The University of Michigan-Flint strives to offer a quality education at an affordable price. We are committed to working with students in their efforts to explore possible opportunities for financial assistance for which they may qualify. Several forms of financial aid are available to facilitate the pursuit of a graduate education at the University of Michigan-Flint.
 

Graduate Student Grant

The Graduate Student Grant is available for graduate students admitted to or enrolled in a University of Michigan-Flint graduate program who demonstrate a financial need to initiate or continue graduate studies. It requires neither repayment nor employment.

Scholarships

Scholarships are available for graduate students admitted to or enrolled in a University of Michigan-Flint graduate program who meet the criteria. They require neither repayment nor employment. Some graduate student scholarships are applicable to students in any graduate program; others are available to students in particular programs.

Graduate Student Research Assistantships (GSRA)

The Graduate Student Research Assistantship (GSRA) program is a vehicle to provide financial support for the academically-related research activities of active UM-Flint graduate students. A GSRA assists UM-Flint faculty performing research that is relevant to his or her academic goals or performs personal research (including thesis preparation). A monthly stipend is provided.

King·Chávez·Parks Initiative Future Faculty Fellowship Program

The King∙Chávez∙Parks Initiative Future Faculty Fellowship Program is funded by the State of Michigan and is intended to increase the pool of traditionally underrepresented candidates pursuing faculty teaching careers in postsecondary education.

Rackham Fellowship

A fellowship is available for graduate students admitted to or enrolled in a University of Michigan-Flint Rackham program who meet the criteria. It requires neither repayment nor employment. Fellowships will be awarded competitively, upon the recommendation of the program faculty, on the basis of academic performance.

Loans and Other Sources of Aid

Federal and other loan programs and federal and state work-study programs are available to graduate students.
